If so, this could be the once in a lifetime opportunity for you and your family to fulfill this dream! Not only is this going to be an unforgettable experience, but the money raised is going to incredible causes. The profit from ticket sales will be shared with 25% going to Canuck Place, 25% to CureSMA Canada, then 50% to Emmett's Van Fund. This is an incredible opportunity to support a local family as they raise funds for a new accessible wheelchair van, Canuck Place Children's Hospice, and CureSMA Canada!
You'll receive a tax receipt for half of your ticket cost; any funds going towards Emmett's van are not eligible for a tax receipt . If you just want to make a straight up donation to Emmett's Van Fund, you're welcome to do that.
A huge thanks to our Sponsors who incredibly have helped keep our costs down so that as much of your ticket fees as possible are going to charity.

First of all, everyone is welcome. Admission if FREE - there is no charge to come in and enjoy the visual experience and participate in the trackside activities. Watch the action on track - we will be located just off of turn 8 and 9, which are the fastest corners on the track. There will be bouncy castles and there will be games. There will even be a mini race track that you can race on using your wheelchair, a balance bike, or even on foot. You can not only see the cars but you'll probably have a chance to sit in them too! That's all free. Make a picnic of it - buy a burger or a hotdog even if you've just dropped in.

Please appreciate that we understand the complexities of wheelchair accessibility. We are doing everything we can but we may not be able to accommodate everyone's needs.
First of all, you're absolutely welcome to take your wheelchair accessible vehicle out on track during the $50 Parade Lap sessions. In fact, we encourage this. The games and activities will have wheelchair accessible options. However, none of the track cars are wheelchair accessible, BUT, if you really want to go in a car (and not your accessible van as that's not cool) don't despair. There is a possibility we can help make it happen. If you're in a wheelchair yet have strong upper body strength and sit normally in a vehicle with a 3 point harness, this should still be a viable option. We'll ensure the driver is very cognizant of the situation. Individuals who have limited upper body strength will have more of a challenge, but we will still see if we can find a way to make this happen.
The entry fee for any age with limited upper body strength is $65 and you will participate in the groupings that are typically for ages 10 to 13. Ideally you would come early so we can see about seating position in a car. You will be on track but with much more cautious braking and corner speed. The car will also be marked with a wheelchair logo to indicate to other cars that more caution is required.
*Your caregiver MUST be able to lift you from your chair and into the race seat of the track car.
**If you have complex medical needs and require a caregiver to be with you, then the only option will be the parade lap sessions.
Canuck Place Children's Hospice is an amazing facility that supports children and their families. Care is open to children aged 0 to 19 with progressive, life-threatening illnesses throughout BC and the Yukon. Programs includes pain and symptom management, medical respite, education and art, music and recreation therapy, end-of-life care, and grief and bereavement counselling. All at no cost to families.
CureSMA Canada's mission includes direct family support and funding Canadian research projects. CureSMA Canada fosters community of individuals and families with Spinal Muscular Atrophy. Additionally, they host an amazing summer camp (one in the west and one in the east) for families to enjoy a full and vibrant camp experience.
Emmett Willms is an 11 year old boy finishing Grade 5 and in September he will be starting Grade 6 . He lives in Abbotsford with his family and has been coming to Mission Raceway Park since he was five months old. Emmett has Spinal Muscular Atrophy, Type 1, and he has been using a power wheelchair since he was 16 months old. At that time, he was the youngest child in BC to have received a power chair. His mom and dad bought a used accessible van at that time and it is now aging out. Accessible vans cost in the neighbourhood of $100,000 plus, thus they are reaching out to the community for support.
Like most middle school boys, Emmett loves hockey. He really loves school (except Math) and his favourite ice cream flavour is strawberry. He loves reading and often has multiple books on the go. He is a member of his school's choir and on the school cross country team. He is involved in community sports - powerchair soccer and Challenger Baseball. And he goes to as many Canucks' games as he can!
Our Host for this event is B.C. Custom Car Club, Mission Raceway Park, and we so appreciate how supportive they've been in assisting us in organizing this charity event. This amazing motorsports facility hosts drag races, drift events, time attack, motocross, and wheel to wheel racing. We will be utilizing the 2.25 km, 9 corner road course for our ride along event. The cars you'll be in will be capable of running this course between 85 seconds (average speed 95 kph) and as fast as 70 seconds (average speed 115 kph). Now, we won't be going nearly that fast, but absolutely fast enough to feel braking, cornering, and acceleration G-Forces!
All drivers have been hand picked for this event. Mission Raceway Park Safety Crew/Paramedics will be onsite throughout the evening. Know that you're in good hands when you go out on track.
