We are beginning a fundraising program to enable the Willms to purchase a new accessible van. When Emmett was little they bought a used accessible Grand Caravan. It has served them well but it is aging. It is time to start making plans - and those plans are expensive. We hope that you can help. One of the first things that we're doing is hosting a Charity race track day on September 12, 2026. You'll literally have a opportunity to go on a real race track! Want more infor, click the Charity Track Day in the header above.

For the past five years Emmett has raised funds for Canuck Place. This fundraiser takes place just before Christmas and we hope that you join us in supporting the Orange Hippos' annual fundraiser for Canuck Place Children's Hospice. It is a very worthwhile cause supporting children across BC and the Yukon.

Thank you for wanting to help out! Spinal Muscular Atrophy is a genetic disease and we must find a cure.  Spinraza is a medical treatment that was approved by Health Canada on June 30, 2017. In October 2018 the Canadian Government provided access to this drug for all Canadians with Type 1 - not yet for Type 2, 3, or 4. Since then a number of provinces have increased range of types that will be able to access this amazing drug. Spinraza is a treatment, but not a cure, so more research needs to happen.

Evrysdi, also called Risdiplam, was approved by Health Canada in 2021 (the FDA approved it in 2020) and Emmett started receiving it in May 2024. Emmett, Alisha, Josh, and little brother Theodore absolutely appreciate all of your support.

We so value our family and friends and would love to hear from you. The comments section of the blog is an ideal way for you to leave a message for us or you can use help@emmetts-journey.com. If you wish to make a financial gift to support Emmett - and you do not need to - we currently only accept Interac Email Money transfer, you can send that to this address: help@emmetts-journey.com. These funds will go into an RBC account set up specifically for Emmett.

Please note that Tax Receipts ARE NOT available for any donations to Emmett through Emmett's Journey.

We encourage you to make a donation to the SMA organization in your country. In Canada donations may be sent to  CureSMA.ca and in the United States donations to to CureSMA.org .

Please support BC Children's Hospital Foundation or Canuck Place.

Of course, if you're outside of British Columbia we will be absolutely happy for you to choose to support a similar organization in your area.

Thank you for taking the time to consider ways to help fight SMA and to support Emmett, Theodore, Alisha, and Josh!
