Unexpected Trip during Canada Day Weekend
Canada Day weekend started out normally enough. Friday everything was basically normal. Signs of a new tooth which explained the more than normal drool. Plans for visiting. His grandparents surprised him (plus Alisha and Josh) with a 40" Swinging Monkey saucer swing. It is fantastic and Emmett loves it!
Saturday required a fair bit of suctioning of mouth and nose as the congestion and drool was very heavy. Temperature was close to normal. He had some cousins from Ontario stop in for a visit. Emmett really enjoyed them and loved the attention, however, he wasn't able to fully enjoy their company as he was rather congested. As the day moved into evening, the congestion became worse. His heart rate throughout the day was 50% higher than it usually is. He wasn't sleeping well. Around 10:30 p.m. his heart rate dropped back close to normal. His night nurse - and Emmett has a fantastic team of night nurses - assured Alisha and Josh that they'd know if there were any changes.
Then very early Sunday morning his temperature climbed. That was it. Not even the two bunnies that he almost always sleeps with were enough to bring calm to this household. Emmett was bundled into the car for a trip to BC Childrens' Hospital. His lungs aren't clear so they've got him on antibiotics. Finally, he is sleeping comfortably and his temperature is normal.
Emmett is a strong little boy yet at the same time he is still so very medically fragile. Thank your for your prayers and best wishes today. We will keep you updated.
