A Surprise!

Emmett is an absolutely amazing little boy. You've heard us say that before and are probably tired of hearing that, but he really is. And, as his mom Alisha just said to him, "You are soooo CUTE!" and he really is. Even when he needs a diaper change. And this is where the surprise happened. No, no, no. This is not bathroom humour and a joke about poop. We're not sure if this is a side effect of the experimental drug program that Emmett is participating in. All we know is that it has changed this household.

You see, Emmett was getting his diaper changed one day when he heard his dad working hard in the other room. Perhaps his hearing is more finely tuned than other babies. Possible, because there's proof that some senses develop to replace senses that are not functioning properly. Since Emmett's spinal column nerves aren't functioning maybe all of the function has been redirected. At any rate, realizing that his dad was facing a huge work challenge in the other room, Emmett flew into action. It was such a blur that I hope I can retell the story properly.

I had just finished changing his diaper when, in front of my wondering eyes, Emmett the baby turned into Super DiaperHead Baby! Knowing his daddy needed a distraction he flew from the bathroom to where his daddy was facing the challenge of working on his computer. Recognizing that he must act fast, Emmett dove in and quickly distracted his daddy. The looks of consternation and challenge on his daddy's face immediately disappeared and were replaced by smiles and giggles.

Super DiaperHead Baby, now covered with kissess and hugs, smiled and giggled back at his daddy. His work was done, so Super DiaperHead baby - with his sleeper now doubling as a cape blowing in the wind, his diaper cap jauntily perched on his head, and his regular diaper securely fastened into place - Super DiaperHead baby headed back to his change table.  He was flying higher than a helium balloon! Time to get his clothes on properly and carry on with his day.

Stay tuned for more adventures of Super DiaperHead Baby! Will he save his mommy from paying bills? Is he going to be able to stop his grandma from cleaning things? What will Super DiaperHead Baby do next!

Disclaimer: The experimental program that Emmett is participating in does not allow babies to become super heros. These babies with SMA Type 1 already are SuperHeros as they do extraordinary things every moment of every day.

However, if you think that any of this - apart from Emmett making his daddy smile - is true, then ... I don't know what to say.
