Our Prayers Are With You, Emmett!

Emmett Needs You!

Today Emmett is undergoing a lumbar puncture. It is Wednesday, October 7 and Emmett has been accepted into the experimental drug study that Alisha referred to in her post. 2/3 of the babies get the experimental drug and 1/3 get a placebo. This drug test is in its third phase. That means it shows promise to have gotten this far, but it's still experimental. But with basically no other options for children with SMA Type 1 or 2, this drug is being made available around the world for children. Those on the placebo will get the actual drug at the end of the study.

But Emmett needs your prayers .  Didn't your spine tingle when I mentioned a lumbar puncture. Today will be the first of many over the course of the study.  The first few lumbar punctures are close together and then they spread out. Emmett is at BC Children's Hospitals procedure. He will stay in ICU overnight. Obviously, Alisha and Josh are with him. They will be a mix of anguish , tears, hope and trust. They don't want to see their baby in pain but they have put their hope and trust in God that Emmett will amaze the doctor's in this study.

Praying for you, Alisha and Josh while you watch your little sweetheart go through this testing. May the Lord bless little Emmett with effective treatment and healing that he may grow up to give Praise to the Lord and be able to follow in his Daddy's footsteps! Love

I'm glad to hear Emmett's accepted into the clinical trial and of course I am hoping for the best, and that he sails through the lumbar punctures like he seems to deal with everything else. All the best from here. - Richard W
