Daily/Weekly Thoughts

Happy 6 Month Birthday

Emmett's six month birthday was a quiet and peaceful day. He was a tired little boy and needed a lot of sleep after such a busy day in surgery on Tuesday. Emmett did get a helium balloon on his birthday and he quite enjoyed that! I think it is quite possible that from now on we will be celebrating the ninth day of every month with Emmett!

Since he was always letting go of the string, we looped it around his wrist so that he could enjoy the movement and colour. I'm sure that once he regains some strength he will really enjoy it. Of course, when a crowd was around Emmett simply stopped moving and enjoyed looking around at everyone, wondering what all of the fuss was about.

Most of the pictures of Emmett wlll be of him sleeping, because it wasn't until late in the evening that he woke up. However, since he's such an angel I'm going to share a bunch of sleeping pictures with you. Here, our angel Emmett is sleeping with a pillow and under a blanket that were both made by Hugginz by Angel, a teenager who has a huge heart for children who are sick or who have special needs. Angel, thank you for giving this to Emmett on his 6 month birthday!

The IV came out a bit early because it stopped working properly and Emmett's foot was swollen with the fluid. That is slowly going down - and is a fairly normal occurance. Emmett has needed his throat suctioned a couple of times because of fluid collecting there. When he's ready to come home, which we hope will be soon, he will have his own suction machine at home.

Alisha and Josh were able to extend their time at the Ronald McDonald House. That gives them a quiet haven to grab a nap and have a hot shower or bath. Of course, someone is always with Emmett!

Like every grandparent I know, you're going to be swamped with pictures of my grandchild! Emmett is absolutely #1 in my books!
